Peg 18 on Oak Lake A return to Wold Farm after missing last years MFS match here.  My last visit was back in 2013 with my mate Mark when we both had great bags of Orfe fishing shallow. Today's match would be on Oak Lake which is over the back of the complex and a water I'd never seen before. It was an early start to make sure I got to the venue for 9am and luck I set off early.  On the M1 I was passing a lot of classic Fords, Mark 1 escorts, Cosworths, Fiesta's and some old Cortina's.  I wondered where they were all going? Well the answer was Santa Pod, all on the same road that I was taking to the fishery.  Upon arriving at Airfield Road, my last stretch before Wold Farm I was stuck in a queue of, yes, you guessed it, classic Fords, all of which were going to Santa Pod for the day. The last mile took 20 minutes but I made it in time for the draw. While I'd made it to the draw I realised that I didn't have much cash in my pocket after a night out in

Getting back to the Mark vs Mark competition, Mark is currently down by 3 matches so this weekend there are a potential 2 points up for grab.  We both last fished at Wold Farm back in July 2011 where a mixed bag of fish was our reward from the Island lake. We arrived at 8am as requested by Dax and were met at the tackle shop by Ron (Dax's dad).  Now Ron is a unique character, very dry and very funny.  We went to pay our peg fee's and he said, "Well, I'm not a mind reader....", sorry Ron, "Island lake with Keepnets"... Wold farm is renowned for its mix of fish, it's like a fairground, you never know what is going to come out next! Mark selected his peg where he had an island to go at within pole range, bunch of lilies to his right and a lovely looking margin swim to his left.  My swim was on the right of Mark, with open water in front, lilies to my left and the point of an island to my right hand side. The Set-up Today would be pole only

Well after my day with Bob Nudd, Mark and I decided to try out our new tips at Wold Farm Fisheries , near Santa Pod in Northants.  To fish Wold Farm, you need to have an appointment, so call Dax on 0797 4000 230 to make one before you just turn up. Finding the place proved a challenge beyond getting to Santa Pod, google maps doesn't really help.  So to help with directions, as you drive down Airfield Road you will basically come to the end of the road and have a choice of turning right down a road that has a lot of junk cars scattered around or to open a gate onto a private gate.  Follow the road with the junk cars on.  This will take you down behind the private road and around the back of Airfield Farm.  The entrance to Wold Farm is a small gate that is in amongst a fir lined set of trees that says, "no public right of way".  I've indicated on the google imagery the road that is not shown and also the entrance. We met Ron, Dax's dad, as we had decided
