How End Fishery - 2 Dayer, 5th August 2018

After a great nights entertainment consisting of beer, bbq and many laughs, mainly at Mr James around the table and a night on the sofa I was up early for another day at How End.  Breakfast was a quick run to the village shop to stock up on provisions and most importantly water! Remember Darren to check the bottle of gin to see whether it's neat or premixed... here end the lesson. Today I'd be on Yasi's and to be honest a lake I enjoy more than Dani's.  The weights on Yasi's yesterday had been quite up and down and one area that I didn't want to end up on was peg 1. The Draw Third last out of the drawbag and I just knew that I was getting Peg 1, not really where I wanted to be if I'm brutally honest however today Pebs had repegged the match as one of the lads had to head home.  Peg 1 it turned out now had a free peg either side of it. Set-up No rods, all pole and a different choice of bait today.  So the lines where quite simple. Shallow rig R

2 years have past since I last fished the 2 Dayer at Phil and Tarnya's place, How End Fisheries. I was certainly looking forward to the weekend after reading about the every increasing weights coming out of both Yasi's and Dani's lakes. Random draw for partners this weekend however that would be after the main draw had taken place.  As the lakes where closed for the weekend fishing was 1130-1730 and the sun was beating down on us. Plenty of banter in the club house and great to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones too. The Draw The big red bag produced Dani's Peg 18 today which was a very good draw according to the locals. Plenty of local knowledge to help out too especially as it had been sometime since I was fishing a match here.  The best advice from Darren James, aka "Parker" to Lady Carla. Neighbour for the day would be the lovely Kathy and we would be the only two on this side of Dani's. Set-up I'd been given som

It had been some time since Mark and I picked up our "annual" competition and some time since Mark had fished too so we decided to head down to see Phil and Tarnya at How End Fisheries. Once we arrived the sun was shining and we fancied a float only match so picked Dani's Lake and pegs 5 and 6.  Mark chose Peg 6 which had the corner of the island Set-up Float only and it was clear that the fish were mostly on the island, being on Dani's Lake it was time to break out the waggler rod.  My other line was my right hand margin on top two plus two. Bait was casters, maggots, worm and 6mm pellets. All-In Phil had kindly allowed us to use nets for out mini competition and we decided to fish for 5 hours.  The lake had quite a few anglers on it today and the weather was beautiful although a lack of ripple on the water. Straight on the waggler to the island with a banded 6mm pellet.  I was getting plenty of indications and was feeding caster.  After striking at p

Sunday morning and a few soar heads after a late night up drinking with the Lewy and Dean comedy duo!  No football this year, just plenty of burgers and sausages to go with plenty of salads, pasta and crisps... oh, I forgot beer and vino too... A few of us crashed on the couches in Pebs lounge which was appreciated.  It was definitely a race to get to sleep first as Dean's snoring was pretty much like a steam train! No comments about my snoring, I must not snore... ;-) The Draw At least today I knew I'd be on Yasi's lake, so what came out of the magical draw bag?  Yasi's Peg 6, an area I've not fished before. Set-Up No rods for Yasi's, only the pole required and again with plenty of time to set-up I plumbed up the following lines: Line to the far bank with around 12 inches of depth Line down the far and near shelf Line in the track, full depth and shallow Margin line on top 2 to my right I had 5 pints of casters left from yesterday after only

The annual 2 day event at Peb's place, How End Fishery.  The fishery is going from strength to strength with the fish getting bigger and more importantly, wiser.  Another event that I simply cannot miss as two days away with the lads, overnight BBQ and beers with everyone makes this weekend brilliant! I arrived at the fishery around 8am ready for the draw to be greeted by a load of the lads.  The weather was absolutely fantastic, definitely a T-shirt and shorts day! The Draw Dani's, Peg 15 came out of the bag for me, a great method peg!  My partner for the weekend would be Baz, but we still had a side bet of a golden nugget across the days! Set-Up No rushing around today, with a very easy all in at 10:30am, fishing until 4:30pm.  I set up a couple of pole lines to fish: Top 2 + 1 section for the near shelf 13 metre line at full depth and shallow The method rod came out the bag and that was me done!  I'd bought some casters, worms, mixed maggots, sweetcorn an

After 2 days at Withy, I was on for another double header weekend of fishing.  First day would be back to Peb's How End Fishery on Yasi's lake.  Traffic wasn't too bad and I was soon at the fishery catching up with all the lads.  Pebs was heading away for the day and Titch was in charge of the shop for the day.  He did a great job despite all the abuse from the lads! Thanks to my good mate Steve 50-50 for making me a coffee to the disgust of Neil (NS69).  "I love you Lewy", "take me for a ride in your car Lewy", "give me a hug Lewy" Neil was in full on abusive mode , but we all know it's just jealousy ;-)  Only kidding mate, we know you are getting little sleep with the new addition to the house.  So a big congratulations from me to you and Katie!  That girl deserves a medal after the 10lb bruiser she gave birth too x The Draw Peg 3 was my lucky draw for the day and my neighbours would be Ricky and Ben.  I felt this was a good draw,
