FAS - Stockbridge Pond, 25th August 2019

The second round of the Bernard Parrot Memorial to be fished at Stockbridge Pond near Tilford and another very warm Autumn day with bright sunshine and no cloud. The Draw Peg 10 came out the hat for me, so I'd at least have some lily pads to target. Set-up The lily pads would be the main attack today so I chose two swims: End of the pads Shallower line towards the middle of the pads The waggler rod was also set-up as a secondary plan.  Bait was all natural casters, maggots, worms, sweetcorn together with some micro pellets and F1 Dark groundbait. All-In I decided to start quite negatively and cupped in a small ball of groundbait with some chopped worm on the long lily line and some casters on the short lily line.  Giving it time to settle a quick dabble on the waggler. The waggler was producing roach and small perch however in spells of two to three before they would back off. Trying the long lily line the chopped worm had obviously had its effect and I was bri

Back to Stockbridge with Farnham Angling Society for the bank holiday weekend. The weather this week has been warm and sunny and it was great to see the lily pads while up walking round the lake as it really helps to define where the real fishy swims will be, especially peg 9 known as the double lily swim. The Draw Reports from the previous week is that the deeper part of the lake (pegs 14 upwards) hadn't fished as well as the earlier, shallower pegs. A group decision was taken to fish pegs 2 through to 14, the shallower pegs. I was last name on the list so ended up with Peg 14 and the scales.  I was not unhappy with the draw as I had Avery short walk from the car park but more importantly some lily pads to target. Set-up As always at Stockbridge, the Waggler rod came out of the bag and was plumbed to full depth, marked on the rod and then set to half depth to sew if the roach were up in the water. Pole lines: 13 metres targeting the lily pads on the right 12 met

After nearly a month of no fishing it was back to Stockbridge Pond with Farnham Angling Society for one of the regular Sunday matches. A good turn out, with 19 fishing so both sides of the lake would be in use today. The Draw Talk was that everyone wanted the closer, shallow bank rather than the higher peg numbers. My home for the day would be lucky for some, peg 13.  One peg along from the last match I fished here. Set-up The Waggler is a must at Stockbridge so that was first out of the bag, given the days weather, warm but overcast I opted to start this at half depth.  A feeder rod was also set-up to fish over the waggler line. Pole lines where: 10 metres ahead to fish the edge of the lilly pads 13 metres to my left in open water at the same depth of the 10 metre swim 10 metres swivelled round to the left hand margin with a light rig in case the roach where there Bait all natural, maggots, casters, worms, some sweetcorn and a little bit of groundbait for the feeder.

The morning started off frosty with the need to clear the car windscreen before heading off to the lovely Stockbridge Lake with Farnham Angling Society. Arriving at the lake, the water looked pretty clear with plenty of surface activity and some turns dive bombing the smaller fish. The weather forecast was favourable too, so a good day ahead beckoned… The Draw Being last on the match sheet I actually never got chance to draw today. Peg 12 was left in the bag for me which included scales for one half of the section. 15 anglers today so we were spread out across the bank nearest the car park. Set-Up Waggler and feeder rod to fish close to the middle of the lake and I selected two other pole lines at around 13-14 metres in front of me. I managed to get a decent depth of around 5 feet and the pond is pretty uniform at this depth. Bait included maggots, casters, worms, sweetcorn and hemp. I knocked up a small amount of groundbait for the feeder and one of the pole lines.

It's been sometime since I've managed to get out on the bank and today was the next match in my diary. Fishing with Farnham Angling Society (FAS) at Stockbridge Pond. The weather had been pretty bad after Storm Calum did it's thing on the country and of course it had rained overnight introducing cold water to the stream fed pond. So on arrival the water was pretty gin clear. Fourteen of us fishing today and the draw was quickly underway after the usual discussion about which pegs to use. The Draw  Peg 29 would be my spot for the day over the far bank and also happened to be the end peg! Set-Up Feeder to target the centre of the lake and two pole lines at 13 metres. I did contemplate setting up the waggler and in hindsight maybe I should have. Bait consisted of maggots, caster, small tub of worms, sweetcorn, special 'G' Dark groundbait. All-In I decided on a double negative approach today given the rain last night and the water clarity, so I cu
