MFS - Tunnel Barn Farm, 21st September 2014 with MAP

Image
A surprise text message from Herbie on Friday night just before I was heading out for the night and a quick call to Colin (BNF) I found out that I was invited to the MAP Day out at Tunnel Barn Farm match with Andy May and Tony Curd.  I jumped at the chance especially as the day before I was fishing there with Paul Holland. Another early start from London, but this time with no traffic issues that I had the previous day.  On arrival Colin was there with a couple of the lads.  Herbie kindly got my breakfast in, thanks Pops! ;-) Today we would be on the New Pool which was behind Extension Pool that I had fished on Saturday. The Draw We everyone gathered it was a quick and simple draw.  My peg for the day was 35 which was on the corner with Herbie and Craig for neighbours. The Set-Up No rods with me today, so I set up three lines, 2 of which would compliment each other. Shallow rig on top 2 + 2 Full depth rig on top 2 + 2 Rig for the far bank on the top sh...

MFS - Tunnel Barn Farm, 20th September 2015 with Paul Holland

Winning a Match Fishing Scene competition where you get a day out with a fishing star it really doesn't get any better...  So I was over the moon when I found out that I had won a day with Paul Holland.  I'd be sharing the day with Neil Dudsbury. I have to start with thanking Neil as he did all the leg work with Paul to organise the day.  We selected a venue that was midway between Derby and London.  After discussing what we wanted to target we decided on paste and margin fishing. My day didn't get off to the best of starts as I headed up the M40 towards Tunnel Barn Farm and a tasty breakfast... The traffic simply stopped and my satnav flashed up that the M40 was closed!  Problem was, I was on it and not moving anywhere! 30 minutes later I was on the move again and I arrived at Tunnel Barn at 9am to meet Paul and Neil who had finished their breakfast by this time... We had a quick chat with Les who runs the tackle shop at Tunnel Barn Farm and grabbed...

The Glebe, 11th July 2014 with Andy Kinder

Image
After enjoying great days tuition with Bob Nudd and Andy May I fancied another day with an Angling star. Andy Kinder started to offer tuition days and having met Andy on a number of matches with the Match Fishing Scene lads I decided a day with him would be a good day out!  So a quick call to Andy and we organised a session at Roy Marlow's Glebe fishery in Leicester. Andy's angling achievements are vast: Andy has fished for the Barnsley blacks for 23 years, which included various winter leagues, semi finals and finals.  Fished the world club champs.  Fished 5 times at England junior level, won team gold with the first ever England under 19's world champs.  Coached Sheffield juniors for 5 years and in that time they won the junior nationals twice and had the individual winner.  Andy has been Maver sponsored for 20 years and sponsored by Marukyu since the very start of Marukyu Brand in the UK What did I want to achieve on the day?  Well I was...

Cudmore, Newcastle-under-Lyme, 7th October 2011 with Andy May

Oooooosssshhh! After my day with Bob Nudd MBE and after hearing great reports about Andy May I decided to book a days fishing with Andy May .  After many email's getting round Andy's and my own diaries we eventually agreed on 7th October at Cudmore Fisheries in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It was an early start for me, leaving London at 4:30am to get to Cudmore, the traffic was kind, but the weather wasn't I arrived at Cudmore for 7am. I met Andy at 8am and we had a cup of tea, bacon sandwich and chatted about what I wanted to achieve for the day and I explain that I would like to go through a typical match scenario, brush up on pole and method feeder techniques.  As the weather hadn't been kind overnight we didn't know what to expect from the fishing.  None-the-less Andy decided to take us on Match Pool 1.  The wind had changed direction and so Andy selected peg 22 for the day with a little bit of ripple on the water. Andy went through my pole floats t...

Bob Nudd Masterclass - Decoy Lakes, Whittlesey, 16th July 2011

40th birthday present from my Mum and Step Dad, Mike, a day with Bob Nudd MBE and 4 times World Champion. What a day!  We had everything, pouring rain to sunshine, ambulances, the AA turning up and non-stop fishing action! The Venue Mark and I met Bob at Decoy Fisheries, Whittlesy near Peterborough at 9am.  The fishery was very busy, but the owners at Decoy had allocated one of their strip lakes, Elm, for myself and Mark to fish with Bob.  So, firstly a big thanks to the owners at Decoy for the cracking venue it is. Arriving at Elm, Bob walked us down the side of Elm explaining that he had never fished this lake before, that the fish will follow the wind in this weather and that a bit of surface ripple was needed.  As the wind was blowing a gail at the end pegs on Elm, we settled on Pegs 4 & 5.  As I was leading the "Mark vs Mark" battle, the person behind has choice of peg, so Mark took Peg 5 and I set up on Peg...
